    Organize Me #5: Garage Makeover and Storage Shelves

    Published: Jan 29, 2021 by Heidi Fowler. This post may contain affiliate links 9 Comments

    Materials:  Around $130.

    Labor: Free

    Spending the day with my husband and getting the garage organized with storage shelves at the same time:  PRICELESS!!!

    The garage is so much more organized with these new storage shelves! Love them! {OneCreativeMommy.com}

    I wish I could give you some free plans for these shelves, but we kind of made them up as we went along. We did learn some important things along the way:

    1. The actual measurement of a piece of wood is different than the measurement they call it at the store. For example, a 2x4 is not 2" x 4'. The 2" part is not a true measure. You need to know that when you are measuring ply wood to cover the top of your shelves!
    2. Projects always take longer than you think -- especially when you have to redo things because you didn't know about fact #1, above!

    Thanks, Honey.  You did an awesome job!

    And, because I love before and after shots . . .

    (If you are wondering about the red furniture in the before pic, that shot was taken while I was painting this family computer desk project.)

    I don't have plans and instructions for this storage shelves project, but I do have plans and instructions for these projects below. Check them out by clicking on the images below.

      I LOVE your garage makeover. I would love to build the same thing in mine. Since I am a single mom, I need your guidance as to the materials you used (if you don't mind). I can build anything....just need a kick start as to what size boards I should think about buying. Pls let me know if you have the time. Thanks!

      Hey love what you did in the garage! My husband just did the same thing. My husband pretty much did those exact same shelves.........LOL. Made a huge difference on storing all the "stuff" we collect along the way. Thanks for sharing.......:)
