    About Me

    Heidi from One Creative Mommy

I'm a retired teacher and stay-at-home mom who loves to create.  I live with my fantastic husband and 3 beautiful daughters (I call them Boo, Lu, & Bear on this site).  I enjoy designing things to help my kids learn and to help my family get organized, but I also love to create things just for fun!  On this website, I combine those hobbies.

So, if you are looking for creative ideas for your kids, helps for math and reading, ideas to organize your life, or even some home decor crafts, you've found the right place.  You'll find a little bit of everything here!

So, welcome.  Make yourself at home, and please enjoy your visit!

P.S.  I love comments almost as much as ice cream, so make my day and let me know if you like my posts!

I just came across your blog as I was searching for gardening tips online. I love it. It is inspirational. I just started blogging and so I know how much work this blog is. Great job!

Just discovered you yesterday. Good stuff. The tone of your site is easy going and the suggestions and ideas that you offer up for organizing seem very do-able! I can become easily overwhelmed with some "super-mom" sites. I don't feel that here. Thanks!!

That's one of the best comments I have ever gotten, Caryn. I am definitely not super-mom, and I try very hard to keep it real on my site. It is so easy to compare our worst days to a blogger's best day! You would laugh if you saw the behind-the-scenes at my house. My house is often chaos, and my kids have tantrums--just like everyone else's! You totally made my day! Thanks!

I may laugh! To get through all the tantrums and chaos we must break down and laugh about it from time to time! BTW, I'm using the 3 steps to cleaning a room for MY room too. And in my daughter's room we've only gotten through the first step, but, goodness that bed looks great! Boys' room is next. Keep on a'bloggin' and keeping it real.

Life is just happier when you can laugh about it! Thanks and good luck with the kids' rooms! It's fun to hear that someone's using my ideas!

      Hi Heidi

I discovered your site last week and have implemented the habit formation and technology token systems with glowing results. In fact, I was at the hairdresser today and a gentleman who was there with his two high school aged boys overheard me talking about tech tokens and wanted the info (much to his boys' chagrin!). Next on the list is to sort the toy situation. I have plastic totes full of toys my girls don't want to part with taking up valuable cupboard (or should I say closet) space, but once they see the tally of how much time they spend cleaning up, I think I'll have convinced them that it's time to change - and change is good! So thanks. A lot!

      Cheers

I'm so glad to hear that my ideas are working for you, Amanda. That's so funny (but really cool) that the man at the hair dresser was interested, too! Good luck with all the changes. Our garage is bursting with toys and things that we have cleaned out, but we just can't seem to find a date for a garage sale. I can't wait until it's all gone! It feels great to have it out of the rooms, but now I want my garage back!

Thanks so much for leaving this comment. It's always nice to hear how people are using my ideas. (It's also really cool to find out that I have readers in Melbourne!

        Have a great week!

Hello there, I just found your site today...very happy I did. Can you suggest a way to clean the burned food that won't come off of my ceramic stovetop?
      Thanks so much

      Hi Heidi,

      Happy New Year!

I recently came across your site and I’m wondering if I can post one of my articles here.

I’ve been writing up home improvement articles too and would love the chance to write on your blog but I couldn't manage to find your email. If you could get a hold of me at [email protected], I would greatly appreciate it.

      Thanks,
      Katie
