It's Spooktastic September Day 4! I'm loving today's guest post. When it comes to Halloween, I'm more into cute than creepy, but this cool Halloween drink looks like so much fun! Take it away Sydney!
This ghoulish drink will have your party guests begging for more.
Hey there One Creative Mommy readers! My name is Sydney and I share budget friendly recipes, crafts and more over at Tastefully Frugal. I'm excited to be here with you today as part of Heidi's Spooktastic September and share with you a quick, easy and tasty Halloween party drink that all the boys and ghouls will love.
One of my favorite parts of planning and throwing parties is having food that goes along with the party's theme. We've had everything from Vader Veggies (for our Star Wars party) to Sulley Salsa (for Monsters Inc.) even a We Finish Each Others Sandwiches Bar (for the Frozen party). As I was planning our neighborhood Halloween party this year I knew several spooky treats were in order. Bat Burgers, Mummy Hot Dogs, Spider Cupcakes were some of the first ideas that came to mind. The drinks were a little bit trickier.
I started thinking about monsters or characters that would make fun drinks. And what better character to base a drink off of than Dracula; the scary monster that "Wants to suck your blood. Blah. Blah. Blah"?! With only two ingredients, this citrus punch is super easy to make. The dripping blood is an easy effect to pull off with honey and red food coloring. If you're not a fan of limeade, you could easily substitute a juice instead (cranberry would be a tasty option).
Ingredients:
- 1 can of frozen limeade concentrate
- 2 liter bottle of Sprite
- honey
- red food coloring
Directions:
- Combine limeade, Sprite and 2 drops of food coloring. Stir to combine.
- In a shallow dish combine honey and red food coloring.
- Place cups rim down in honey/red mix and turn back upright.
- Pour Sprite/Limeade mix into cups and watch the red "blood" drip down cups.

What a fun drink idea for Halloween!!
Heidi
Sydney did a great job. I think kids would love this creepy drink.
Kerry
So you're the cooooooool mom!! My boys would love this "bloody" drink. The grosser, the better. I'm not in charge of any Halloween parties this year, but this drink might make it to our dinner table. Thanks for the idea.
Heidi
Thanks, Kerry. I'm not quite this cool. This drink was created by my friend, Sydney. She's a mother of boys. I have all girls. I would never have thought of something this cool!
Kendra
This is such a cute idea. My boys are always trying to come up with weird concoctions to eat....this would be much better than adding ketchup!! :)
Heidi
That is such a gross image! I bet that's exactly how how a boy would try to create this look!
