Smarties Back to School Printables for a Fun First Day!

Published: Mar 29, 2021 by Heidi. This post may contain affiliate links 13 Comments

While many of you are planning how to spend your last few weeks of summer, we desert dwellers are gearing up for back to school! We're already worrying about clothes, school supplies, class schedules, and whether or not our kids will find friends at school. I can't believe summer is over! To start the first day of school off right, I've created these fun Smarties back to school printables. Use them to wish your Smarty Pants a great first day!

You're probably wondering why some of the printables say "Smarty Pants" and others say "Smartie Pants." That's because I couldn't make up my mind! Did I want to do a play on words with Smarties candy, or did I want to spell smarty correctly? I decided to let you decide! Both printables are available with both spellings. I know. I'm crazy. I can't help it. I was just born that way!

For a fun twist on this idea, here's what the young women at my church have been doing: They are participating in the 30 Day I Love You Challenge. For 30 days, they are doing nice things for their family members. These round "Smarty Pants" treats were created for them to leave on the pillows of their brothers and sisters before the first day of school. For more ideas for cool things to do for your family members during the month, be sure to follow the link above.

The larger printables are for the giant packs of Smarties that can be found in drug stores and gas stations. (I got mine at Maverick.) Since my oldest already made the small treats for her sisters, I'm making the bigger treats for her and her sisters. (I think I'll hide them in their backpacks or something.) Overkill-yes, but I've never seen a kids frown at more candy or love from home!

Ready to make your own? Just click on the download button below to open up the pdf file. The file includes all four pages of printables. Of course, you won't need all four pages. Just set your printer to print only the page you need.

If you are a teacher, the round printables would be fun for welcome treats for your new students. Enjoy!

Thanks, Jenn. Me, too. This time, I let my teenager make them for her sisters. It was fun.

I love some of these ideas. Unfortunately, during my kids last years of elementary school, the school no longer allowed them to bring treats to share with classmates.

I know what you mean. The schools are trying to go healthy--which I'm sure is a good thing. I just made these for my own children. I slipped the big ones in their backpack pockets so that they saw them in the morning, and my oldest wrote notes on the small ones and left them on her little sisters' pillows. It was fun.

I haven't had to pack lunch in a long time. Those lunchbox fruit jokes are too cute!

Thanks. My kids love them, and they make great ice breakers for starting conversations during those first awkward days at lunch.

These are absolutely adorable labels! I love how colorful they are! I love the one that is a play on words with Smarties.

Thanks, Carrie. I had a hard time deciding which spelling to use. I just couldn't decide which I liked better!

These are all great ways to help a child get over the anxiety of leaving home and going back to school. My kids are all grown up now but I will share these cute printables with my sister and cousins who still have young kids. I love that idea of getting a treat after completing a friend-making task!

Thanks, Annemarie. The first day of school can be tough--especially at a new school. Kids need all the help they can get!

Hi, these smarty pants are too cute! I was wondering about the colored paper (blue with colors on the edge) you used...did you buy or print it?
      Thanks

What you see in the pictures is exactly what's on my printable. Just click on the download image that says "download printable PDF file." The printable will open in a new window for you to print.

I love it! You’re all so smart… spotting the ponzi scheme and the bubble like you’re so clever. When you along with every other clueless hack are spouting the same idiotic arguments (early adopters are going to make millions) that just tells me bitcoins are legit. Thank you.
