How to Cut Watermelon for a Crowd

Published: Jun 14, 2021 by Heidi. This post may contain affiliate links 14 Comments

I absolutely love watermelon. I could seriously sit down and eat half of one by myself! I love to serve watermelon at family reunions, neighborhood parties, and family picnics. There's just one problem. It can be so messy to eat! A few weeks ago, my friend Taralie showed me this brilliant hack for serving watermelon. Now I'm wondering why I never thought of this! It's brilliant!

Last year, I found this fun hack for serving watermelon on a stick. I like this idea even better! This trick leaves guests with a convenient handle for the watermelon, but since it's cut in sticks instead of triangles, there's no getting the juice all over your face! Here's how you do it:

    How to Cut a Watermelon

    1. Slice the melon in half.
    2. Working with half at a time, slice each half into 1 ½ to 2 inch slices.
    3. Lay each slice down on a flat surface and cut it into strips, leaving a bit of rind on the bottom of each slice.
    4. Layer in a large bowl or serving plate with the rind against the outside edges so that guest can easily choose a piece.
    5. Serve cold and enjoy!

How easy was that? Now get to eating! Enjoy!

See? No mess! It's like a watermelon popsicle, without the drips!

Heidi I know what you mean, we had a holiday in the middle of our summer last year in the usa we spent Christmas in las Vegas and then we headed to Bryce canyon where we had snow and the same at Grand canyon the kids loved the snow. If we had been at home we would have had over 100 deg and in the swimming pool
