Fathers Day Photo Gift

Father's Day Photo Gift Idea | Easy Mod Podge photo tile.  Free photoshop template available at the same site {OneCreativeMommy.com}

Just in time for Father's Day, I have a fun (and easy) Fathers Day Photo Gift Idea for you.  I made a similar project two or three years ago, (shared here--please forgive the horrible pictures), but it was time for an updated version.  Now Dad can keep one at work and one at home.  (Yes.  I know that Father's Day is missing the apostrophe.  It pains me to leave it out, but it makes it easier for search engines to find this project.  Try not to cringe!)

This project is so easy, and the girls had a fun time selecting their favorite pictures to include.  My favorite?  The hands at the bottom.  Daddy took the girls on a Daddy/Daughter campout, and he let them paint his nails!  Now that's a real man!!!  Best dad ever!

Before I get to the project, have you entered my Father's Day Fill the Man Cave Giveaway?  Don't forget!  It ends soon!

Now, for the project!

Fathers Day Photo Gift with Mod Podge

  1. Select your photo and have it printed with a matte/luster finish.  I used a 12x12 collage photo that I created from this Free Photoshop Template.  (You can use any size photo, as long as it matches the size of your tile.)
  2. Purchase a ceramic tile that matches the size of your photo.  (Hint--you can get tiles for about $.40 at the Habitat for Humanity Restore.  Just be sure to take your photo with you so that find a tile that is the right size. )
  3. Wipe your tile with a damp cloth to remove dust.  Using a large foam brush, brush Mod Podge over the entire front of the tile.
  4. Carefully center your photo above the tile, gently lay it down, and smooth it out.  Work from the center outward as you press the photo to the tile.  Allow the Mod Podge to dry.  (If it will be a while before you use your brush again, you can rinse it out and let it dry, or just put it in a plastic bag to keep the Mod Podge from drying.)

  1. Using the same brush, paint Mod Podge across the image from right to left.  There will be faint lines in the Mod Podge.  You want to keep those lines straight.
  2. Allow the Mod Podge to dry and repeat step 5, this time painting from top to bottom.  Again, try to keep the lines straight.
  3. Paint Mod Podge around the outside edge of the tile (but not the back).

When the Mod Podge dries, your photo will resemble canvas.  Display your tile on a nice plate stand, and you're done!  Dad's going to love it!

Want the template, but you don't know how to use it?  No problem.  Check out my tutorial, "How to Use a Photoshop Template."

I've had a few people ask me if I can change the template to say something else.  I'd love to make personalized versions for everyone, but I just don't have time.  If you would like to order a personalized version for $2.50, please leave me a comment in the comments section below or leave me a message on my contact page.  Thanks!

I hope this works for you!  Thanks for stopping by!  Please share or pin this post so that others can join in the fun, too.

    What a great idea and what an awesome effect! Love it! I will keep that in mind for future reference! :) I think it would make a great gift idea for the grandparents, too.
