With Good Vision, Anything Is Possible!

Published: Jan 29, 2021 by Heidi. This post may contain affiliate links 9 Comments

Did you know that one in four children has an undiagnosed vision problem? Guess what? You can take care of your vision and help a child in need of vision care at the same time. (Pretty cool, I know!) Right now, when you purchase an individual vision insurance plan from VSP Direct™ for as low as $17/month, a child in need receives a free eye exam and glasses, up to a retail value of $1 million. Find out more at VSPDirect.com/EyeGiveBack. Thank you to VSP for sponsoring this post.

You’ve heard of looking at the world through rose colored glasses, right? Well, for the past three years, I’ve been looking at the world through slightly crooked, scratched up glasses. (I suppose that if I wanted the cartoon image of me on my blog header to look more like me, I should tilt the glasses. Seriously. They are rarely straight.)

Like most of you, I hate to spend money unless I absolutely have to. Because I haven't had vision insurance, I haven't replaced my old glasses. I’d rather see clearly, but to save money, I’ve been enduring, and I've been missing out!

One quick call to a local eye doctor let me know how stupid I've been the last few years. I found out that one year of family VSP insurance costs less than an eye exam for each of my five family members! Add glasses or contacts to the picture, and vision care is a no-brainer. Even better--if I choose an individual VSP plan for vision care before June 30, 2015, VSP Direct™ will donate an eye exam and glasses to a child in need through their #EyeGiveBack program.

Now that one of my kids is complaining of headaches, I know it’s time to take the plunge and see the eye doctor. I've been putting my new glasses off to save money, but I won't cut corners when It comes to my kids!Help kids get the most out of life with the gift of good vision! Without good vision, my kids could be missing out on seeing the world clearly and in living up to their full potential. Did you know that about 20% of children struggle to read because of vision problems? Are your kids one of those statistics? Are mine? Without an eye exam, we may never know.

I hope my kiddos don't need glasses, but if they do they've already picked out their favorites. (It must be nice to look adorable in every pair of glasses in the store!) We'll all be heading to the eye doctor in the next few week, so be on the lookout for new glasses for me, and maybe for some of my kiddos.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by today! I am a member of the Mom It Forward Blogger Network.

As a nurse I understand the importance of this and couldn't agree more with detecting vision problems early. I love that VSP is helping those in need get what they need before it's too late.

Thanks, Marilyn. (I actually need new glasses. I may just end up buying the pair I'm wearing in the picture.)

Aw, thanks, Jessica! It's just Murphy's Law that the kids who don't need glasses look adorable in every pair! I have to go through 10,000 before I find one that I like.

Many kids these days want glasses even if they dont need them! With many vision plans covering eye exams there is no reason to not get checked out. Even if you get glasses out of network and pay cash most plans let you self-submit for reimbursement. Dont leave any money on the table!
