I absolutely love watermelon. I could seriously sit down and eat half of one by myself! I love to serve watermelon at family reunions, neighborhood parties, and family picnics. There’s just one problem. It can be so messy to eat! A few weeks ago, my friend Taralie showed me this brilliant hack for serving watermelon. Now I’m wondering why I never thought of this! It’s brilliant!
Last year, I found this fun hack for serving watermelon on a stick. I like this idea even better! This trick leaves guests with a convenient handle for the watermelon, but since it’s cut in sticks instead of triangles, there’s no getting the juice all over your face! Here’s how you do it:
How to Cut a Watermelon
- Slice the melon in half.
- Working with half at a time, slice each half into 1 1/2 to 2 inch slices.
- Lay each slice down on a flat surface and cut it into strips, leaving a bit of rind on the bottom of each slice.
- Layer in a large bowl or serving plate with the rind against the outside edges so that guest can easily choose a piece.
- Serve cold and enjoy!
How easy was that? Now get to eating! Enjoy!
See? No mess! It’s like a watermelon popsicle, without the drips!
